Silver Salt P

Silver Salt P is the monosodium salt of anthraquinone sulfonic acid. Silver Salt P acts as a proton donor and is used as an antistatic agent and a reaction inhibitor during emulsion polymerization. It is also used as an inhibitor of enzyme reactions and as a catalyst for alkaline pulp production in the soda process.

Application example 1: Antistatic agent

By adding Silver Salt P to various resin masterbatches (MBs), it is possible to impart electrical conductivity. When manufacturing conductive plastics, it is common to add black carbon, but by using this material, it is possible to increase conductivity while maintaining transparency.

Application example 2: Reaction inhibitor during emulsion polymerization

It is used as a control agent for polymerization reactions.

Application example 3: Enzymatic reaction inhibitors

In the field of biochemistry, Silver Salt P is used in research, taking advantage of its properties as a proton donor.

Application example 4: Catalyst for alkaline pulp production

The soda method and the Kraft method are known catalyst methods for alkaline pulp production, and Silver Salt P is used as a catalyst in the former.1

In terms of yield and pulp quality, commercial pulp production is overwhelmingly done using the latter method, but due to the odor generation problem, the soda method is attracting attention as a method that does not have this problem.2
